Infinity

The Porte de l'Europe in Kirchberg has been given a makeover. The Infinity project is located in direct proximity to the Philharmonic, skyscraper, towers of the European court of justice and the EU Parliament and is made up of a new building complex housing businesses, restaurants, offices and apartments. The block is made up of three areas. There is a smaller tower at the front containing office spaces. The middle part of the complex houses 22 restaurants and businesses over 6,500 square metres. Behind this is the tall residential tower. There are 165 luxury apartments located over 25 floors.

For the facades, a double-shell pre-hung facade was used for the office building, a single-shell pre-hung facade for the residential building and a pre-hung mullion facade for the shopping centre.

The tower’s proportions were carefully thought-out to maximise the number of rooms with direct daylight. The majority of the units face south, while the rest face east or west.

The building’s skin is clad with transparent and opaque vertical components. They create a nuanced organic pattern and also contribute to the goal of sustainability at the same time. Recessed balconies transform into domestic glass extensions that can be used all year round. When closed, they blend into the main facade.
