Historical Gymnasium, Rietberg

The power for the building is supplied by the energy sources rain, sun, earth, water and air, all of them having a neutral effect on the climate. The building therefore constitutes a major contribution to the climate protection targets of the town. The intention was to ensure the appearance of the building and its surroundings met modern demands while also respecting the legacy of historic role models. Climate protection has been perfectly reconciled with conservation requirements.

The tasks for GU were: Automatic window opening and closing controlled by wind and rain sensors, automatic ventilation and room temperature regulation controlled by signals from the central heating system, automatic smoke exhaust in the event of a fire. Hazard prevention through monitoring of crushing and shearing points and implementation of protective measures to meet the required protection class 4.

GU solution:SHEV system comprising chain drives for the motor-driven operation of the timber windows for daily ventilation and automatic SHEV in the event of fire.
