The multi-point lock in detail
- With building authority approval: available in all common backsets, follower sizes, and faceplate variants

Energy efficiency

Our multi-point locks meet the requirements of standards DIN 18251-3, DIN 4102-18, and EN 1191 – both in terms of fire protection, smoke protection, durability, and strength. Our multi-point locks are certified for use on fire-resistant and highly fire-resistant fire protection closures in accordance with EN 1634-1.
In addition, we have successfully demonstrated the suitability of our multi-point locks for smoke protection closures according to EN 1634-3.

EN 1634 is a European series of standards dealing with the testing of doors and other closures regarding their fire and smoke protection. The standard consists of several parts covering different aspects of these tests:1. EN 1634-1: This part deals with the determination of the fire resistance of doors, gates, and openable windows. It specifies how these elements should be tested in the event of a fire to demonstrate their ability to prevent the spread of fire for a specified period of time.
2. EN 1634-2: This part specifies procedures for assessing the behavior of construction products under mechanical stress in connection with their role as fire protection closures.
3. EN 1634-3: This part concerns the testing of smoke tightness of door, gate, and window closures as well as components in smoke-tight walls.

Locks – mortise locks and multi-point locks
The DIN 18251 standard refers to mortise locks for doors and defines requirements as well as test procedures to ensure that these locks meet the required safety and functional standards. The standard is divided into several classes (e.g. class 3, class 4), which define various technical specifications and areas of application. For example, class 4 of DIN 18251 describes specific features such as the stainless steel material of the forend or specific dimensions for backset distances.

The DIN 4102 standard deals with the fire behaviour of building materials and components. It defines the combustibility levels of materials as well as their fire resistance. The standard divides building materials into different classes, including non-combustible (Class A) and combustible materials (Class B), the latter being further subdivided into difficult to ignite (B1), normally flammable (B2), and easily flammable materials (B3). The latter are not permitted in Germany.These classifications help to assess how long a component retains its function in the event of a fire and contribute to safety through regulatory fire protection.
